Parkour Pirate
Controls: Move (ASDW), Look (ARROW KEYS), Jump (SPACE), Interact (E)
Premise: Your captain crashed his pirate ship into a rock, and you are now stranded on an island. Since the crew is stuck behind a large rock, your captain delegates you to find a way off the island, due to your parkour skills (and abnormally high jump height). Traverse through various environments and talk to people, and eventually a solution will come to you (10 min play time).
Design: This game is a linearly structured “open world”, meaning that the user cannot progress to the next area without completing the one before. This 3D LowPoly platformer takes its visual inspiration from “The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker”.
Game Play Goal: The goal of this game was to create a fun themed 3D platformer with a beautiful aesthetic and a good story. Below I will touch on how I was able to achieve these goals:
-3D Platformer: In each of the environments there are various parkour challenges the player must face in order to go on to the next part of the story.
-Beautiful aesthetic: Each of the varying environments has its own aesthetic. This includes a pirate environment, a desert environment, and a colonial environment. Each of these have their own unique structures, lighting, music, and skyboxes.
-Story: The story element of my game is achieved by tying the above two elements together. The player is tasked with completing platforming trials that are related to the environment. There is a definitive goal (get off the island), and it must be achieved by communication with various people in the different environments.
Workload: This was an independent project.
